This January the Alliance Française de la Nouvelle-Orléans is launching several new classes at AFNO and at new locations in the New Orleans metro area.

Classes in Metairie

French for Kids

Bébé Alliance
18-36 months
Tuesdays 9:30-10:30am January 12-March 24 (10 weeks)
  • Program to enhance children’s natural ability to learn language through interactive and dynamic structured routine
  • Little ones learn through games, songs, storytelling, and sensory experiences
  • Parents required to attend and encouraged to share in the joys of discovering the language with their child
Petite Alliance
3-5 years
Saturdays 1-2:00pm January 17-March 28 (10 weeks)
  • Fun and entertaining program designed to expose your child to the French language through a variety of activities
  • Children will hear and learn French nursery rhymes, songs, and play sound or word games
  • For students only
Price: $255 (register by Jan 5th); $270 after Jan 5th (materials included, AFNO membership not included)

French for Parents

January 22-March 19
Level 1: Thursdays, 5-6pm
  • Introductions, exchange personal information, talk about family members.
Level 2: Thursdays 6-7pm
  • Talk about daily activities, time expressions, speak about preferences and leisure.
Price: $99 (all materials included, 1 yr free AFNO membership included with code “parents”

Creative Writing in French with Fabienne Kanor

This French/Martinican award-winning author will lead the class in bringing out their inner creative soul and putting words onto paper. Fabienne is currently a writer in residence in New Orleans, researching and writing her next novel.
You can hear our interview with Fabienne on this month’s RadioNOLA show (Sat, Dec 27th 9am on WGSO 990am). The show will broadcast the second segment of a series in which Fabienne reads from her novel Humus (available for reference at the AFNO library).

Cajun French Through Song

Acadian French specialist Robert Desmarais Sullivan teaches this class using the classic songs and music of southern Louisiana Cajun country.
